Mark R. Kanney, 65, Granger, passed away into the Lord's arms Tuesday, March 7.
He was born Oct. 26, 1951, to Jack Richard and Jean Clara (Travis) Kanney. They preceded him in death.
On Feb. 1, 1975, Mark married the love of his life, Carol Ann Landeck, with whom he spent 42 wonderful years. She survives.
Also left to cherish his memory are two children, Laura (Chris) Demien, St. Louis, Missouri, and Gregory Kanney, Warsaw; granddaughter, Amelia Claire Demien; two sisters, Karen (Rick) Clark, Clarkston, Michigan, and Patty (Ed) Lauten, Edwardsburg, Michigan; four cherished nieces and nephews, Sarah (Chad) Umscheid, Kristen (Joe) Janosky and Daniel and Nathan Lauten; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
Mark was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed going to the casino, fishing, spending time with family and showing off pictures of his new granddaughter.
He obtained his bachelor's degree from Purdue University and was an environmental engineer with the Elkhart County Dept. of Planning and Development for 30 years.
Those who knew him would say that he was genuine, kind and funny. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many.
Visitation will be Friday, March 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 Ind. 23, South Bend (enter off Cherry Road).
Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mark's name to Chiara Home, 1425 Clayton Ave., South Bend, IN 46614 or to Cardinal Services, 504 N. Bay Drive, Warsaw, IN 46580. Both organizations have played invaluable roles in the care of Mark's son, Greg.
