Mabel Burkholder, 73, LaGrange, died Thursday, June 29, at her home after a short battle with cancer.
Mrs. Burkholder was born Jan. 20, 1944, in Kalona, Iowa, to David and Susan (Yoder) Bender.
On March 10, 1966, in Kalona, she married Manas E. Burkholder. Mr. Burkholder survives in LaGrange.
Mrs. Burkholder was a homemaker and a member of the Rosewood Fellowship in Shipshewana.
Along with her husband, she is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Fannie and Michael Vaughn of Senecaville, Ohio, Rachel and Andrew Yoder of Shipshewana, and Wilma and LaVern Miller of Topeka; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Burkholder of Wakarusa and Daniel and Angie Burkholder of Goshen; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Anna Maas of Wittman, Arizona, Mary Edna Bender of Kalona, and Sara and Francis Swartzentruber of Phoenix, Arizona; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Henry and Yvonne Bender of Harrisburg, Oregon, and Enos Bender of Kalona.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Catherine Bender and Esther Miller; and a brother, Harvey Bender.
Visitation will take place at Fair Haven Mennonite Church, 13513 Ind. 4, Goshen, Friday, June 30, from 5 to 8 pm and Saturday, July 1, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will take place Sunday, July 2, at 2 p.m. at the church. Bishop Lavern Miller and the home ministers will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in rural Shipshewana.
Memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
