Kathryn "Kathi"'s Story

Kathryn Marie (Stamper) Hale, died 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at Elkhart Hospice House.
Kathi dedicated her life to enjoying her family, never passing up the opportunity to share time with them while they pursued their passions, be it baseball, color guard, softball, swimming or helping with their educational pursuits. Kathi was always there with her support.
After a hard-fought battle with cancer, her suffering ended and at the age of 61, she is now at rest.
Born in Lakeview, Michigan, Jan. 28, 1956, to Roy and Mary (Schiffer) Stamper, she grew up as a military child traveling the world, living not only in many locations in the United States, but also in Germany. She graduated from NorthWood High School in 1974, then went on to get her bachelor's degree in accounting from Indiana University, then earning her certified public accounting license.
Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca (Eric) Campbell, and grandchildren, Mehgen, Mason and Mattie. Also surviving are siblings, Bill (Cassie) Stamper, Laurie (Dave) Byrket and Tim (Camie) Stamper. Nieces and nephews are Amy (Byrket) Phelps, Todd Bryket, Amanda (Dustin) Shuler, Timothy Stamper, Owen Stamper and Natalie Stamper. Great nieces and nephew are Haley Phelps, Henry Shuler and Lucy Shuler. Also surviving is her mother, Mary.
Preceding her in death were her father, Roy; brother, Terry; and sister, Maureen, along with grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa, with the service following at 4 p.m. The Rev. Ed Geleske will officiate.
