John William Yoder, 67, died of multiple myeloma at 11:08 a.m. Thursday, May 11, in Middlebury, following an illness of two and a half years.
Mr. Yoder was born in Goshen Feb. 5, 1950, to William and Alma (Kauffman) Yoder. He graduated from Bethany Christian High School in 1968 and attended Goshen College.
A lifelong resident of Middlebury, he was a truck driver, a MAC Tools distributor, owner of Ocelot Priority Logistics and most recently, an account manager for PAI/AIT.
He married Karen Litwiller June 28, 1975, in Bristol. She survives along with three sons, Garth (Cathy Holmes) Yoder, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Spencer (Lindsey) Yoder, Ladera Ranch, California, and Preston Yoder, Fort Wayne. Also surviving are his siblings, Marion (Wanda) Yoder, Charles (Judy) Yoder and Alice (Dennis) Risser, all of Goshen, and Nancy (Cloyce) Nofziger, Archbold, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick in 1956, his mother in 1992, and his father in 1998.
A devoted husband and father, John loved to travel, play cards and socialize with relatives and close friends. He especially enjoyed researching Yoder genealogy and assisted with the publication of a Yoder newsletter for 25 years.
A celebration of life service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury.
