John Richard Pfeiffer, 83, passed away Wednesday, June 21, at 3:20 p.m. in the Nappanee home which he built by hand.
John was born Jan. 6, 1934, in Nappanee, to William C. and Nellie (Faulkner) Pfeiffer.
Lucky enough to find love twice in his life, John was married to Betty Munson May 10, 1958. They were married for almost 10 years until her passing Jan. 5, 1968.
John later married Linda Hawkins May 21, 1971, in Elkhart. They would share 31 years together until her passing Nov. 4, 2002.
Although formerly of Warsaw, John spent most of his life in the Nappanee area and attended Nappanee schools. He was a self-employed carpenter, who specialized in building homes, but he was known as a jack of all trades.
John was a faithful member of United Pentecostal Church of Warsaw (now Community Life Center) and was integral in building the church and caring for the property. He loved his church and was a man of great faith. He enjoyed being outside and liked to garden.
He will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Tammy (Ken) Riley, Nappanee, and Trisha (George) Talley, Ionia, Michigan; son, Eric (Amy) Pfeiffer, Claypool; five grandchildren, Megan and Jonathan Riley, Nappanee, Josh, Scott and Brandon Talley, Ionia, Michigan; and a brother: Glen Gordon "Gordy" Pfeiffer, Boyce, Louisiana. He is also survived by his "special girl," Autumn Cripe, whom he loved like a granddaughter.
In addition to his first wife, Betty, who preceded John in passing Jan. 5, 1968, and his wife, Linda, Nov. 4, 2002; going before him are three brothers, Henry Pfeiffer, Roy Pfeiffer and Wade Pfeiffer; and three sisters, Rachel Bollenbacher, Hilda Smith and Mary Hall.
Friends may gather for a time of sharing Monday, June 26, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw.
A funeral service celebrating John's life will take place Tuesday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at Community Life Center, 825 N. Harrison St., Warsaw, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Dr. Dan Cox of Community Life Center will officiate.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Community Life Center Building Fund, 825 N. Harrison St., Warsaw, IN 46580.
The staff of Titus Funeral Home considers it a privilege to care for the family and friends of John Richard Pfeiffer.
