Joan E. (Huber) Bailey, 71, Goshen, died at 7:04 p.m. Saturday evening, July 8, at Goshen Hospital as a result of complications from colitis.
She was born Feb. 14, 1946, in Elkhart County, to John and Dorothy (Carpenter) Huber.
On May 29, 1965, she married Lowell Bailey.
Joan graduated from Goshen High School in 1964.
Over the years, she worked away from home at Judd Drug, Quality Farm & Fleet and City News and Books. She was also a homemaker.
She was actively involved with the Clinton Classics Extension Homemakers Club as a member for 24 years and worked in the Home and Family Arts building during the Elkhart County Fair.
In 2014, Joan was selected as the Elkhart County Fair Senior Homemaker of the Year. She enjoyed cross-stitching and crafts for which she won many ribbons. Joan also mentored her children and grandchildren with their 4-H fair projects.
She loved going to Larry and Charlotte's every Tuesday to play cards. She was devoted to her family.
She is survived by her husband, Lowell Bailey, Goshen; sons, Tony (Kelley) Bailey, West Lafayette, and Trent Bailey, New Paris; daughter, Connie (Wayne) Oliphant, Millersburg; mother, Dorothy Huber, Goshen; five grandchildren, Ashley Hampton (Gary Whelan), Michael (Randi) Hampton, Tori Boger, Thomas Bailey, and Sarah Bailey; four great-grandchildren, Harlyn Whelan, Bohdi Whelan, Julian Hampton and Savannah Hampton; two brothers, Larry (Charlotte) Huber, Goshen, and Lowell Huber, Goshen; two sisters, Jane (Jim) Wixson, Elkhart, and Donna (Kenny) Metzger, Goshen.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Huber.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, and one hour prior to the 3 p.m. service Thursday, July 13, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Pastor Richard Carpenter will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rock Run Cemetery, Goshen.
