Joan Albert, 82, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at Courtyard Healthcare after declining health for several years.
She was born May 19, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Earl and Ruth (Striethorst) Diekman.
On Nov. 24, 1951, she married James E. Albert in Goshen. He died Aug. 29, 2016.
Survivors include five daughters, Christine (Terry) Adam, Goshen, Teri (Jon) Stutzman, St. Joe, Ruth (Dave) Pletcher, Elkhart, Tracy (Dan) Weigel, Columbia City, and Kelly (Dave) Mast, Butler; a son, Michael J. Albert, Rome City; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sandy Albert; a grandson, KC Weigel; and a sister, Jean Ruffner.
A longtime area resident, Joan, along with her husband, owned and operated Albert's Place, a restaurant in Hicksville, Ohio.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the American Legion and the D.A.V. She enjoyed going to garage sales, antiquing and restoring furniture.
Friends may call Sunday, May 7, from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Pastor Terry Tyler will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service and burial will be in Violett Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial gifts may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society or Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
