James L. Reed, 80, Nappanee, passed away at 10:32 p.m. Thursday, April 27, at Elkhart Hospice House after a three-month illness.
He was born Jan. 3, 1937, to Charles E. and Edna A. (Yoder) Reed.
On Dec. 22, 1957, he married Johanna Jerles at Nappanee United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Johanna; daughter, Julie Reed, Elkhart; sons, Jeff (Carol) Reed, Elkhart, and Jamie (Pam) Reed, Nappanee; grandchildren, Jason Reed, Fort Wayne, Zachary Reed (fiance Maura), Grand Prairie, Texas, Adam, Megan and Kaleigh Reed, Nappanee, and Mackenzie (Alex) Wolverton, Jacksonville, North Carolina; great-granddaughter, Atlas; and sisters, Patsy Kuhns and Janet Hartman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four infant children, Jay, Jason, Joel and Jennifer; and a sister, Jane Reed.
Jim worked in the mobile home industry for 27 years as purchasing agent for Skyline, Buddy Homes, Windsor and Duke Homes, and Bremen Glass. He started his own business with partners, Great Creations Inc.
He attended Nappanee Missionary Church and served on the Electrical Board for Nappanee.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral services Wednesday, May 3, all at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Pastor Jason Rohde will officiate.
Burial will be at South Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Center for Hospice Care or Elkhart Hospice House.
