Irene J. Weirich, 101, passed away Thursday, May 18, at Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Shipshewana, to Fred and Bessie (Howard) Allison.
On June 23, 1934, she married Alvin Weirich in Howe. He died Sept. 11, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, David (Joyce) Weirich, Chesterfield, Michigan, and Denis (Carol) Weirich, Grand Haven, Michigan; a son-in-law, Terry Yoder, Goshen; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Yoder; two sisters, Evangeline Troyer and June Nelson; and a brother, Edmond Allison.
Irene owned and operated Irene's Cafe in Shipshewana for 17 years and also worked at Yoder's Department Store. She was a member of Berea Missionary Church while living in Shipshewana and attended First Baptist Church after moving to Goshen.
She enjoyed reading and sewing.
Friends may call Saturday, May 27, one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service at The Meetinghouse at Greencroft, 1225 Greencroft Drive, Goshen. The Rev. Dr. Gregg Lanzen, First Baptist Church, Goshen, will officiate. Burial will follow at Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
Memorial gifts may be given to Bible Pathway Ministries.
