Edgar A. Weldy, 85, Middlebury, died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Greencroft Goshen Health Care.
He was born May 8, 1931, in Mishawaka, to Allen and Nina (Roose) Weldy.
On Feb. 17, 1951, in Elkhart, he married Shirley Kilmer. She died Dec. 16, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Aundrea (Mike) Gordon, Norwalk, Ohio, and Denise (Bob) Brenneman, Goshen; son, Allen (Kim) Weldy, Rossville; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two brothers, Winfred and Gilbert Weldy.
Edgar was a member of Middlebury Church of the Brethren where he was a lifelong deacon. He graduated from Elkhart High School and attended the John Herron Art School in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Crystal Valley Antique Car Club, the Middlebury Historical Museum and the Elkhart Art League. He was an avid sports fan and had been a self-employed painting contractor for 40 years.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 24, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Saturday, March 25, at Middlebury Church of the Brethren. Services will be conducted by pastors Janet Shaver and Dan Petry.
Burial will be at Cornell Cemetery, Goshen.
