Donald R. Stichter departed this life to his heavenly home on March 31, 2017 at Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born December 13, 1931 in Royal Center, Indiana to Gordon and Esther (Good) Stichter.
On December 28, 1952 he married Evelyn Louise Brown in Wakarusa at Holdeman Mennonite Church. She survives along with six children, Karen Stichter of Wakarusa, Joe (Karen VanDyke) Stichter of Wakarusa, Becky (Tony) Brenneman of Broadway, Va., Charlotte Stichter of Silversprings, Maryland, Gordon (Lori) Stichter of Inglis, Fla., and Frank (Becky) Stichter of Goshen, Indiana along with 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Ralph and Loren and two sisters, Carolyn Graber and Lorene Schrock.
Preceding him in death along with his parents were two brothers, Leonard and Kenneth.
Don graduated from Breman High School in 1950 and did two years of 1W service at St. John's Hospital in Anderson, Indiana. He farmed for 12 years then went into real estate and auctioneering. His last 20 years before retirement he was a bus driver for the Wa-Nee Schools.
He was a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church and served for a term on the finance committee and with the Bible Memory Program. He also served on various service projects. Don was a faithful husband and father and enjoyed family time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially taking them fishing.
His hobbies were restoring antique cars and tractors and he belonged to the Antique Car Restorers Club and 2 Cylinder Club.
