Dayle Ann (Yoder) Kanagy, 58, Bittinger, Maryland, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14, unexpectedly of suspected heart failure, in Nicaragua, Central America, while on a mission trip with her husband.
Born Feb. 14, 1959, in Nappanee, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Melvin J. and Mattie (Hochstetler) Yoder. She was also preceded in death by two nieces.
She married Urie Kanagy, son of the late Ezra and Lavina (Byler) Kanagy, March 22, 1984, with whom she enjoyed 33 years of marriage.
She accepted Christ in her youth and was a faithful member of Swanton Mennonite Fellowship Church. She was a loving homemaker and mother and dearly loved her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Urie Kanagy, Bittinger; six sons, Jeffrey and Heidi (Kemp) Kanagy, Atlanta, Georgia, Jason and Karen (Beiler) Kanagy, Bittinger, Anthony Kanagy, Ron Kanagy and fiancee, Larissa Miller, Michael Kanagy and Jadon Kanagy, all of Bittinger; and six grandchildren.
She is also survived by four brothers, Steve (Barbara) Yoder, Rutherford, Tennessee, Donald (Julia) Yoder, Hartselle, Alabama, Ernie (Wilma) Yoder, Strawberry, Arkansas, and Kevin (Debra) Yoder, Pickens, South Carolina; and four sisters, Donna (Andy) Byler, Cynthiana, Kentucky, Lana Sue (Raymond) Fisher and Anita (Marv) Smucker, both of Limestone, Tennessee, and Ellie (Dwayne) Miller, Afton, Oklahoma.
Friends will be received at Swanton Mennonite Fellowship Church Thursday, May 18, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will take place Friday, May 19, at 10 a.m. at the Swanton Mennonite Fellowship Church with Pastor Eli Hershberger officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
