Caroline M. Ulrey, 81, Elkhart, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her family, in the early morning Saturday, April 22.
She was born July 15, 1935, in Elkhart, to Carl and Emma (Faulhammer) Heigl.
Caroline met and married her husband, Larry L. Ulrey, who preceded her in death April 9, 2006.
Mrs. Ulrey loved to knit and crochet. She adored being at Sechrist Lake in North Webster, where she spent much of her time with her family. Her greatest and happiest moments were at the lake.
Caroline is survived by her daughters, Darcy (Jim) Paulus, who served as her primary caregiver(s), and Diane (Guy) Martsolf, both of Elkhart; grandchildren, Jamie (Travis) Sibery, North Webster, Jenee Paulus, Bristol, Jared Paulus, Goshen, Adam (Lyndsay) Platz, Elkhart, Aaron Martsolf, Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Emilie Martsolf, Elkhart; as well as seven great-grandchildren with one due in August.
Mrs. Ulrey was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Carl Heigl Jr.
There will be a celebration of her life later this summer at Sechrist Lake in North Webster.
Caroline's family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Elkhart Center for Hospice Care.
Elkhart Cremation Services are entrusted with Mrs. Ulrey's arrangements.
