Betty J. Cripe, 95, Goshen, formerly of Wakarusa, died at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at Waterford Crossing, The Maples, Goshen.
She was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Wakarusa, to Ernest J. and Florence (Robison) Chokey.
Betty married Roscoe Cripe Jr. June 28, 1947, in Wakarusa. He died Aug. 20, 2006.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeryl (Jack) Jamison, Nappanee; son, Stanley (Sally) Cripe, New Paris; sisters, Bonnie (Dwayne) Rufenacht, La Junta, Colorado, and Jan (Ed) Evers, Wakarusa; brother, Robert D. (Doris) Chokey, Nappanee; three granddaughters, Stacey (Steve) Yoder, New Paris, Lisa (Justin) Montague, Last Vegas, Nevada, and Jaclyn (Walter) Booker, Cookeville, Tennessee; six great-grandchildren, Sam and Sawyer Yoder, Kaiden and Kyler Montague, Evelyn and Nora Booker.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Junior; and a brother, Eugene E. Chokey.
Betty was a bookkeeper and athletic secretary for Wakarusa and WaNee School System. She was a member of Friends of the Library at the Wakarusa Public Library and after continued to volunteer at Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She was an avid reader and talented seamstress. Betty was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Wakarusa.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service Saturday, Sept. 16, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Pastor Jeremy Chesley and Pastor David Harper will officiate.
Burial will take place at Olive (West) Cemetery.
