Barbara J. Trolz, 88, Elkhart, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 11. She had suffered with COPD for the past three years.
Barbara was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Jackson Michigan, to Lexa and Myra Smith.
On July 25, 1964, in Jackson, Michigan, she married Jerry Trolz. He survives along with a son, James (Marlene) Mack, Rockford, Michigan; grandchildren, Steve Mack, Savannah, Georgia, Linda LaForce, Hilton Head, North Carolina, and Jenny Mack, The Villages, Florida; great-grandchildren, Michael Mack and Allison Mack, both of Savannah, Alex Deregnaucourt and Mason Deregnaucourt both of The Villages.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dale Smith.
Barbara was a great mother and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never met a stranger and she would strike up a conversation with anyone. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was known for her neatness and decorating skills. People would refer to her as a great lady. She attended the First United Methodist Church and was co-owner with her husband Jerry of Bent Oak Golf Course.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday Sept. 15, at the funeral home. Vince Turner will preside.
Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
