Barbara Ellen Slabach, 78, Goshen, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, June 29, at her residence.
She was born March 26, 1939, in Middlebury, to Amos David and Sovillah (Yoder) Plank.
She married Daniel J. Slabach June 25, 1976, in Bethesda, Maryland.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Daniel Slabach, Goshen; children, Rodney (Tina) Slabach, Mishawaka, Dana Lankford, Logansport, Jennifer Paluchniak, Goshen, Aaron Lankford, Goshen, and Ryan Lankford, Greenville, Michigan; stepdaughters, Roberta (Terry) Ernsberger, Goshen, and Diane Kay Smucker, Elkhart; siblings, Verna (John) Stout, Grabill, Irma Plank, Middlebury, Edy (James) Holahan, Alexandria, Virginia, Floyd Plank and Ed Plank, both of Middlebury; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and eight great-stepgrandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Marvin Plank, Norm Plank, Rosetta Plank and Elnora DeFreese; and a stepdaughter, Danette Mae Slabach.
Barbara worked at Middlebury State Bank and as a secretary and office manager at City Roofing in Elkhart.
She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved shopping.
Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Elkhart.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service Thursday, July 6, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3415 Pleasant Plain Ave., Elkhart. Bishop Chester Gibson will officiate.
Burial will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
