William B. Swihart, 85, Elkhart, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at East Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Dec. 15, 1931 in Goshen, to Glen Elmer and Ruby Glee (Rohrer) Swihart.
Surviving are sons, William "Barney" (Mary) Swihart, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, David Lee (Diane) Swihart, Dunlap, Michael George (Bevan) Swihart, Miami, Florida; grandchildren, Rory (Heather) Swihart, Craig (Melissa) Swihart, Jeff Swihart, Kallay (Jeremy) Bonta, Kira Swihart, Timothy Swihart, Brianna Swihart and Karissa Swihart; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucy Charleston, Goshen, Betty Cosby, Apache Junction, Arizona; brothers, Jack Swihart, San Francisco, California, and Steve Swihart, Eugene, Oregon.
Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Betty Jo; brother, Warren Swihart; and sister, Janice Ernsberger.
William was a journeyman and tool and die maker. He was a member of the Life Springs Community Church, Goshen, and volunteered with the Elkhart County Jail and Prison Ministries throughout Indiana.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where a service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The Rev. Phil Shenk will officiate.
Burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery.
