Theodore "Ted"'s Story
Theodore "Ted" Roosevelt Brooks Jr., 82, Milford, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
He was born Jan. 26, 1935, to Theodore Roosevelt and Inez W. Brooks in Moulton, Alabama.
On April 2, 1957, Ted married Ellen Phelps.
Ted honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Milford, and he was a member of Milford Masonic Lodge 418 for 52 years.
Ted loved bluegrass music. As a young man, he played guitar with local groups and liked to attend nearby bluegrass festivals. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
Ted will be missed by four siblings, Jim (Margaret) Brooks, Bob (Ann) Brooks, and Kent Brooks, all of Milford, and Susan (Scott) Crist, Bradford, Ohio; seven nieces and nephews; 18 great nieces and nephews; a great-great-nephew; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of nearly 50 years, Ellen Brooks; an infant sister, Kathleen Brooks; and a niece, Amy Crist.
A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Milford.
Burial with military honors will follow at Milford Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children.
