Teofilo's Story

The Rev. Teofilo B. Ponce, 87, Goshen, formerly of Del Rio, Texas, died at 7:31 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at Goshen Hospital.
He was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Del Rio, Texas, to Manuel Ponce de Leon and Maria Elena Bernal de Ponce.
He married Mary l. (Leon) Ponce April 30, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. She died Feb. 6, 1991.
Surviving are children, Leticia (Roy) Ponce Rhodes, Goshen, Manuel T. Ponce, Shipshewana, Armando (Linda) Ponce, Goshen, Diana Ponce Faux, Arcadia, and Christina Ponce (Wilbur) Miller, Ann Arbor, Michigan; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six siblings.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, seven siblings and a great-granddaughter.
The Rev. Ponce was a retired ordained minister of the Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service Friday, Nov. 10, all at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen.
Burial will be at a later date at Glen Oak Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.
