Ronald R. Peters, 74, Middlebury, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, at 8:29 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12.
He was born July 17, 1943, in Raleigh County, West Virginia, to James and Sarah (Petry) Peters.
On March 21, 1970, in Elyria, Ohio, he married Merna Van Diviner, who survives.
Also surviving are daughter, Debbie (Ruben) Montanez, Goshen; three sons, Ron (Tina) Peters, Winfield, West Virginia, John (Amy) Peters, Fort Wayne, David (Joetta) Peters of Marmet, West Virginia; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Debbie) Peters, Belle, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Michaela Faith Peters; four brothers, Thomas, Dewitt, James and Clarence Peters.
Ron was a member and an elder at River of Life Fellowship. He was a minister of the Gospel for 40 years, a coal mine worker, a taxi driver for 11 years, and worked at Syndicate in Middlebury for 3½ years. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1960-1964.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at River of Life Fellowship Church, 11162 Ind. 120, Middlebury. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, also at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastors Gordon Henke, Rick Lambright and Mitch Mast.
Memorials may be given to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
