Romayne's Story

Romayne Gibson Agley Boggs, Brighton, passed away Oct. 29, in Lafayette, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was 100 years old.
Romayne was born in Cosperville, to Walter F. Gibson and Phoebe Jane Miller-Gibson, March 13, 1917, the youngest of five children. She attended Brighton School and was active at English Prairie Church of the Brethren.
Romayne lived a very full life, raising her four children and six stepchildren. Along with her husband Orlin, during his time as Farm Bureau county president, she was able to journey to Sweden and Russia with former Governor Otis Bowen as part of a delegation to further foreign farm relations. She also had adventures in Mexico, Spain and Hawaii and was able to live part-time in Bradenton, Florida, every year.
She will forever be remembered for her steadfast love and dedication to her family. Her greatest joy was time spent with her children and many grandchildren.
Romayne is preceded in death by her first husband, Mark Daniel Agley; second husband, Orlin Frank Boggs; two brothers, Calvin Gibson and Orlie Gibson; two sisters, Pauline Golden and Leota Lance; granddaughter, Kelly Jo Boggs; two stepsons, Dennis Alvin Boggs and Owen David Boggs; and son-in-law, Gerald O. Dudley.
She is survived by her four children, Twyla Jean (Agley) Dudley, Robert Mark Agley (Kathy), Daniel Lee Agley (Kathy Susan) and Sally Ann Hans (Mark); four stepchildren, Orlin Duane Boggs (Arlys), Dick Allen Boggs (Gerrie), Dan Alden Boggs and Diane Alice Robinson (Robert); daughter-in-law, Connie Boggs (Owen David); 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Nov. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Services will also take place at Frurip-May Funeral Home beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, with additional visitation before the funeral at 10 a.m. Funeral services will be officiated by Daniel Lee Agley.
Burial will follow the service at English Prairie Cemetery, Brighton.
