Rebecca Irell Cooper, 64, Middlebury, passed away peacefully at 9:12 a.m. Monday, March 12, at Elkhart General Hospital, due to complications of pneumonia.
She was born April 6, 1953, in Owatonna, Minnesota, to Alfred and Dorothy (Roesler) Heil.
On May 12, 1979, in Owatonna, she married Steven Cooper, who survives.
Also surviving are daughter, Rachel (Aaron) Roberts, Muncie; grandson, Owen Roberts; her mother, Dorothy Heil of Owatonna; three sisters, Cleone (Paul) Smith, Denver, Colorado, Gretchen Heil of Owatonna, Diane (Mark) Asprey of Austin, Minnesota; brother, Bradley (Margaret) Heil, Apple Valley, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Rebecca was a devout Christian and a homemaker who enjoyed caring for the elderly. She also enjoyed old movies, reading, baking, listening to worship music, shopping, especially garage sales, and at one time had worked for Billy Graham.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Pastor Blair Carlstrom.
Burial will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or Meals on Wheels.
