Priscilla Ruth Haynes passed away Nov. 3 at Greencroft Goshen, where she had resided for the past eight years. Priscilla was born Nov. 25, 1931, in Oak Park, Illinois, the only child of Ruth and Ennis Dillon.
She graduated from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, in 1953 and then began teaching high school English in Bensenville, Illinois, which she continued until her marriage to Jack Austin Haynes in June of 1957.
Priscilla and Jack lived in a number of locations through the Midwest, where they dedicated themselves to raising their four children: David, Helen, Elizabeth and Carolyn. In 1969, the family moved to Dearborn, Michigan, and in the mid-1980s, Priscilla began an affiliation with the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where she held several positions in the financial services area until her retirement in 1996. Both before and after her retirement, Priscilla spent many hours participating in the lives of her grandchildren, sharing her many interests and talents with them. Jack and Priscilla moved from Dearborn to Greencroft Middlebury in 2005 and resided there until 2011, when they moved to Greencroft Goshen.
Priscilla is predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack, and survived by her four children, David (Jennifer) of Mission Viejo, California; Helen of Gilbert, South Carolina; Elizabeth of Northville, Michigan; and Carolyn (Lyle Hardman) of Granger, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Haynes of New York, New York, Christopher Haynes (Rebecca) of Acworth, Georgia, Sarah Savino of Leadville, Colorado, Spencer Savino of Mission Viejo, California, Jaclyn Culler of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Timothy Nicolosi of Charlotte, North Carolina, Katelyn Culler of Lafayette, Indiana, David Hardman of Granger, Indiana, and Daniel Hardman of Granger, Indiana; and sister-in-law Sue Kellar of West Covina, California.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6 and 9-11 am Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
