Philip K. Smith, 32, Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, April 18, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
Phil was born Oct. 19, 1984, in Lafayette, to James Andrew "Andy" Smith, who passed on Aug. 12, 2012, and his mother, Michelle Marie (Martin) Madden.
He married Megan A. Jones Sept. 15, 2014, in Goshen. Megan survives, as well as his daughter, Madison Jane Stokes, at home; mother, Michelle Madden and husband, Tim; grandparents, P.J. Shupert and Ernie and Cara Lee Martin; two brothers, James A. (Traci) Smith Jr. and John T. (Autumn) Smith. Also surviving are four nieces and two nephews, Shayle Mikel, Jamie Marie, Justin Bradley, Skyla Dawn, Trinity Cheryl Ray and John Thomas Jr.; two aunts, Amy Jo Smith Clark and Linda (Bruce) Snyder; two uncles, Kerry (Julie) Smith and Ernie (Becky) Martin III; and his in-laws, Tim and Ginny Jones.
Phil worked as an electrician at Keystone RV, Plant 1, in Goshen. He also worked construction and enjoyed building things and working with his hands. Phil was always helping others any way he could. He was very handy and could fix just about anything. He loved the outdoors and being around nature and also liked to do landscaping.
A gathering for Phil's family and friends is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 21, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Cremation has been chosen.
Phil's family prefers memorial contributions be made to Ryan's Place.
