Olive Jane's Story
Olive Jane (Phillips) Swank, 90, Ligonier, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, Nov. 1, at her residence.
Olive was born March 21, 1927, in Defiance County, Ohio, to Asher B. and Edith (Criswell) Phillips.
On Aug. 1, 1942, she married Harold R. Swank, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Violet (Tom) Ley, Ron (Ilene), Don (Loretta), Paul (Lisa), David (Cindy), Karen (Marlin) Whitlock and Shirley Swank. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as great-great-grandchildren.
Olive was a long-time resident of Ligonier and a member of Trinity Assembly of God church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and fishing. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and serving her Lord. Olive was known as Grandma to everyone. Over the years she did a little bit of everything. Olive will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, H. Ray Jr., three grandsons, five brothers and two sisters.
Friends and family may call 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Trinity Assembly of God Church,1288 W. Union St., Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Jeffrey Thomas will officiate.
Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.
