Neal Myers

Neal Myers, 55, Middlebury, passed away while doing what he loved, Thursday evening, Feb. 21. His passing occurred at the scene of a single airplane crash landing near C.R.s 42 and 33 in Goshen.
He was born June 10, 1963, in Goshen, to Dr. Richard and Shirley (Hassell) Myers.
On July 25, 1987, in Noblesville, he married Dianne Roxbury, who survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, Nick Myers, Middlebury; daughter, Jenna (Brent) Eaton, Jacksonville, Florida; his parents of Goshen; two sisters, Pat Lau, Indianapolis, and Kay (Dr. Doug) Stanley, Goshen.
Neal was a pillar of the Middlebury Community. He was owner/operator of Max Myers Motors, Middlebury for the past 26 years.
He was a 1985 graduate of Purdue University and was very active in attending many school events with his family, who are all Purdue alumni.
He lived an active lifestyle and spent a lot of time with his family snow skiing, golfing, and riding bicycle. He and his wife were part of the "Wild Pigs" bicycle group and were both very instrumental in the development of the Boys and Girls Club, Middlebury. He served on the steering committee in 2001 that officially opened the Middlebury club in 2002. He then served on the Blue Ribbon Committee in 2005 for the building project of their current facility, which was built on the Northridge School System complex in 2006. He served on the First State Bank Board of Directors since 2002.
His true passion was flying. He and his wife often volunteered their time and skills in transporting both children and adults with illnesses to hospitals and other events as part of their volunteer service for Angel Flight Central. He earned an "Angel" designation during The Goshen News' annual Angels Among Us awards ceremony in 2015.
He and his wife also enjoyed volunteering for Pilots N Paws Pet Rescue Services, flying dogs to multiple shelters around the country.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Waypoint Community Church, 56893 C.R. 29, Goshen.
A celebration of life service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, also at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastor Blair Carlstrom.

I speak for everyone connected to our Pilots N Paws organization when I say Neal will be greatly missed. He was a special man with a giving nature who saved hundreds of animals lives by flying them from life threatening situations to safe and loving homes. Both Neal and his wife are every day heroes who truly made a difference in this world. We will miss you Neal and we thank you for your kindness and generosity. Bless you and your family who we will be keeping in our hearts.

Neal was such a good person. My dad and I bought several vehicles from him at Max Myers Motors. He always had a smile and was always willing to take the time to talk about cars even if you weren’t buying one. My deepest condolences go out to his family.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I lost my brother, Rev. Andrew Topp, May 2, 2018, in a crash that duplicates Neal's. My brother was also a pilot for Paws & Pilots, & he also used his plane to serve in Haiti. The crashes are so similar..testing the plane & my brother also hit power lines when he went down. My God give your family comfort. I know how difficult this is for you all.
