Michiko "Mitze"'s Story
Michiko "Mitze" Ono Pickett, 84, Bristol, died peacefully in her sleep at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at her daughter's home where she had resided for the past year and a half. She had been in declining health the last five months.
She was born July 10, 1933, in Tokyo, Japan, to Toki and Seijin Ono.
She married Fremont "Monte" Pickett in Bedford. They were married for more than 40 years.
Surviving are daughter, June Wild, Bristol; son, Jeff (Dori) Pickett, Royal Oak, Michigan; granddaughter, Valerie Seegers, San Francisco, California; grandson, Alexander Seegers, Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Yukiko and Yuriko, both of Tokyo; and brother, Hiroshi (Noriko) Ono, Tokyo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister, Emiko.
She was a legal secretary, flower shop owner, Indiana Democratic delegate and a translator for Honda Motors. She was a member of Shoals United Methodist Church and Indiana University Alumni.
Family and friends may gather at 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the family residence, 19710 Amberwood Drive, Bristol.
