Melvin R. Krontz Melvin R. Krontz, 70, Syracuse, died Monday, March 11, at Goshen Hospital.
He was born Aug. 19, 1948, in Sturgis, Michigan.
Survivors include two daughters, Brandi (Mark) Youell, Indianapolis, and Millisa (Dustin McFarland) Harper, Middlebury; five grandchildren, Matthew and Zachariah Youell, C.J. Hanna and Austin and Drew Marlow; a great-grandson, Jacob Youell; four brothers, Russell Krontz, Art Krontz, Mike Krontz and Jim Close; and two sisters, Karen Moore and Joann Salmon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell W. Krontz; mother, Margie (Edson) Close; stepfather, Ralph Close; and four siblings, Cork, Elllie, Mack and Eugene.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Krontz worked for Goshen Sash and Door, retiring in 1998. He later worked for Synergy RV Transport as a night guard.
Melvin enjoyed fishing, working on cars and going to local races. He enjoyed spending time with family and had a generous spirit to help those he could.
Visitation will be Friday, March 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 16, one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service, all at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Pastor Mike Overpeck will officiate.
Burial will follow at Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Michigan.
