Mark J. Bontrager, 87, Shipshewana, died at 1:17 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Goshen Hospital.
He was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Shipshewana, to Earley Clay and Delcie (Mishler) Bontrager.
On Sept. 27, 1953, in Shore Mennonite Church, he married Clara Mishler; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are daughter, Diane (Todd) Woodworth, Goshen; son, John Mark Bontrager, Shipshewana; three grandchildren, Jesse Bontrager (fiancée, Ariane Bergen) Woodworth, Denver, Colorado, Luke (Brittany) Bontrager Woodworth and Clara Elizabeth Bontrager Woodworth, both Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hilda Haarer and Glenola Leinbach; and brother, Marion Bontrager.
Mark was a farmer, livestock hauler and a bus driver. He was a member of Shore Mennonite Church, where he served as song leader. He was also a member of Crusaders Quartet and served on the REMC Board for 49 years.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, and one hour prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Shore Mennonite Church, 7235 W 100 N, Shipshewana. Services will be conducted by Pastor Carl Horner. Burial will be in Bontrager Cemetery at a later date.
