Marietta Slabach, 80, Nappanee, died at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at her home, after struggling with cancer since May 2017.
She was born in Marshall County, June 28, 1937, to Jesse S. and Rubedean (Weldy) Hochstetler.
On Oct. 6, 1956, she married J. Leroy Slabach.
She was a member of the first class to graduate from Bethany Christian High School. She was a member at Living Gospel Church, where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher. Her commitment to the Lord was her top priority.
Marietta volunteered at World Missionary Press for five years and at Goshen Hospital for 16 years, at the front desk. She had worked at Nappanee Family Medical for 20 years as a receptionist.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, J. Leroy Slabach; children, Phil Slabach, Nappanee, Brian Slabach, Wakarusa, Marcia (Steve) Hooley, LaGrange, Karen (Norman) Cender, Goshen; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley (Elaine) Hochstetler, Goshen; brother-in-law, Richard Martin, Goshen; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beatrice Martin; and a daughter-in-law, Melody Slabach.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 5, at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Living Gospel Church, Nappanee. Pastor Mike Raasche will officiate.
Burial will be at Union Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Living Gospel Church or Gideons International.
