M. Dale's Story
M. Dale Gongwer, 86, Goshen, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born April 1, 1931, in Elkhart County, to Maurice Elmer and Olive (Stauffer) Gongwer.
He married Verna J. (Blosser) Gongwer June 17, 1951, at Holdeman Mennonite Church, Wakarusa. She passed away March 18, 2001.
Surviving are five children, Dennis (Kim) Gongwer, Columbus, Ohio, Steven (Brenda) Gongwer and Connie (Enos) Davidhizar, both of Goshen, Beth (Jeffrey) Fervida, Milford, and Michael (Sallie) Gongwer, Avon; brother, Ivan Gongwer, Elkhart; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his wife; parents; brothers, Nelson and Robert Gongwer; and a sister, Grace Hershberger.
Dale was owner and operator of Lue Manufacturing, Goshen, and a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Goshen.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa.
A memorial service will begin 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, 64901 C.R. 11, Goshen. Pastor Wes Bontreger will officiate.
Private family burial will be at Yellow Creek Cemetery.
