Lester D. Miller, 83, died at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at his residence.
He was born June 25, 1934, in Marshall County, to David J. and Barbara (Hochstetler) Miller. On March 7, 1954, in Goshen, he married Mary Esther Lambright. She survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Patricia (Paul) Miller, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Denise (Gordon) Henke, Middlebury; three sons, Dennis (Vert) Miller, Goshen, Randy (Carlene) Miller. Elkhart, and Wes (Sheila) Miller, Middlebury; two sisters, Clara (Lamar) Hershberger, Nappanee, and Verba (Lonnie) Slabaugh, Nappanee; two brothers, Slyvanas and Homer (Freida) Miller, both of Nappanee; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Leona and Linda Mae Miller; and three brothers, Gilbert, Harley and David Miller Jr.
He was a member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church. He had been a factory worker and helped start the bakery at Essenhaus, where he worked for 17 years. He served two years of voluntary service at Rosedale Bible College, served his 1-W service in Fort Wayne and later worked at Troyer Carpets.
Lester loved family, friends and playing Rook. He gave himself fully to everything he did and would serve anywhere he could. His heart for people and for God was well-known. He lived life enthusiastically.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, Goshen. Services will be conducted by Pastors Bill Richardson and Harold Knight. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Goshen.
