Katie Weirich, 95, of LaGrange, formerly of Sarasota, Florida, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
She was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Shipshewana to Daniel and Elizabeth (Kauffman) Weirich.
Surviving are a sister, Anna Chupp of Shipshewana; a brother, Ora (Kathrine) Weirich of Goshen; 17 nieces and 15 nephews; many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Harley E., Harry, Joe and Eli Weirich; two sisters, Ida Miller and Nona Yoder; two nieces and one nephew.
Katie worked doing house cleaning most of her life. She had lived in Sarasota, Florida, for over 40 years and was a member of the Pine Craft Amish Church. She enjoyed traveling and had visited 47 of the states in the U.S.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by her nephew, Pastor Joe Weirich. Burial will be in Naylor Cemetery, Shipshewana.
