John C. Bollinger, 99, Goshen, formerly of New Paris, died 4:53 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at The Maples of Waterford Crossing, Goshen.
He was born Sept. 20, 1918, in Shipshewana to John and Nora (Cripe) Bollinger. In 1944, John married Lois A. Bollinger and she died in July 1988. On May 20, 1989, he married Jolene Bollinger.
Surviving are a wife, Jolene Bollinger, Goshen; a daughter, Vicki (Charles) Kelsey, North Manchester; a son, Robin (Deb) Bollinger, LaGrange; a stepdaughter, Jennie Barwick, Iowa; a stepson, Tim (Deb) Barwick, Mishawaka; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, first wife, Lois, a stepson, John Douglas Barwick, and 14 siblings.
John was a chartered life underwriter for One America Life Insurance Company. He was a member of the New Paris Church of the Brethren and formerly a charter member of Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren, Fort Wayne. He served in CPS during WWII. He was a member of the Goshen Kiwanas and a former member of the Lion's Club in Cedar Creek. John was also a former school board member of East Allen County. He enjoyed bowling and traveling. He traveled to all 50 states, 53 countries and all seven continents.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at New Paris Church of the Brethren, 68170 C.R. 23, New Paris. Pastor Stan Godfrey will officiate. Burial will take place in West Goshen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to New Paris Church of the Brethren.
