Jean E. Hardesty, 89, Goshen, formerly of Nappanee, died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Greencroft Goshen Health Care.
She was born April 20, 1928, in Nappanee, to Raymond and Goldie (Adams) Dunnuck. Jean was a graduate of Nappanee High School and a lifetime area resident.
On May 21, 1950, Jean married Russell J. Hardesty. He preceded her in death Aug. 22, 1980.
Jean was a member of First Brethren Church, where she was active in the choir, the WMS and the Encourager's Club. She worked as a CNA at Elkhart General Hospital.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Bitting, Kathy (Robert) Hershberger, both of Goshen, and Jill (Glenn) Nunemaker, Nappanee; son, Brad Hardesty, Goshen; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ike (Carolyn) Dunnuck, Traverse City, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Robert Hershberger II; and brothers, Merle and Joseph Dunnuck.
Jean will be cremated. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the 11: 30 a.m. memorial service, Saturday, March 3, at First Brethren Church, Nappanee. The Rev. Tom Schiefer and Pastor Cory Smith will officiate.
Inurnment will take place at Stony Point Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Brethren Church.
