Jacob "Jake" E. Gloor, 86, passed away on Friday, Oct. 13, at his home surrounded by family in Ligonier.
He was born April 21, 1931, in LaGrange County, to Gust and Mae (Bobeck) Gloor.
On Oct., 13, 1979, he married Marilyn Jean Hasting in Topeka.
Jacob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marilyn Jean Gloor; three children, Carol (Nelson) Hunter of Ligonier, Carla (Roger) Moser of Jackson, Missouri, Carrie Gloor-Nelson of Ligonier; four stepchildren, Curt (Amy) Hasting of Ligonier, Shari (Greg) Riverdahl of Rockford, Illinois, Barbara (Randy) Wooten of Wasilla, Arkansas, and Carolyn "Sue" Hasting of Sturgis, Michigan; nine grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 23 stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Margaret Gloor; one sister-in-law, Joan (Jim) Love-Buchtel of Rochelle, Illinois; along with one brother-in-law, Donald (Carol) Hildebrand of Belvidere, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and one stepgrandson.
Jake was quite the social butterfly. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He served on the Ligonier Park Board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, all sports and, above all, spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.
During his career he farmed, drove a school bus for over 12 years and retired as a quality-control inspector after 22 years of service from Redman Homes in Topeka.
A time of visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier.
A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. at Yeager Funeral Home. Celebrant Larry Baker will officiate.
Burial will take place at Eden cemetery in Topeka, following the funeral service.
Memorial contributions in Jakes's name may be directed to the Ligonier Park & Recreational Center, 520 W. Union St. Ligonier, IN 46767.
