Isaac J. Borkholder, 89, 318 U.S. 6, Nappanee, died from injuries received in a fall, at 4:49 pm, Monday, May 22, in the emergency room of Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Nappanee, to John R. and Fannie I. (Yoder) Borkholder. He lived his lifetime in this area.
On Nov. 10, 1955, he married Dorothy Yoder.
Mr. Borkholder was a retired farmer and member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Mr. Borkholder is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Merlin I. (Brenda) Borkholder and Keith A. (Pauline) Borkholder, both of Bremen, JoEllen (Robert) Chupp, Nappanee, Miriam (Vernon M.) Miller, Milford, Jonathan (Frieda) Borkholder, Nappanee, and Mattie (Devon Ray) Miller, Middlebury; 29 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anna Graber, LaGrange, Laura Miller, Nappanee, and Edna Miller, Bremen; half brothers, Raymond (Fannie) Burkholder, Middlefield, Ohio, John J.R. (Fannie) Burkholder and Jonas (Ellen) Burkholder, both of Clymer, New York; stepbrother, Daniel (Betty) Burkholder, Middlefield, Ohio; and stepsister, Mary Ann Miller, Clymer, New York.
He was preceded in death by grandsons, Andrew Miller and Joseph Borkholder; brothers, Andrew, Ira and Nathaniel Borkholder; sisters, Clara Borkholder and Mary Schrock; stepbrothers, William Burkholder and Owen Burkholder; and stepsister, Laura Byler.
Family and friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, and all day Thursday, May 25 at the family residence.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 am, Friday, May 26, also at the family residence. The home ministers of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate.
Burial will be at Weldy Cemetery.
