Helen L. Stewart, 95, Sturgis, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, at Sturgis Hospital.
Helen was born May 24, 1922, in Oil Hill, Kansas, a daughter of Leroy and Vivian (Troxel) Sprowl.
Helen lived in Colon where she had worked at Colmer Company. For the past 20 years, she lived in Sturgis.
On March 9, 1940, she married Erwin S. Stewart in Colon. He preceded her in death March 13, 1979.
Helen enjoyed playing bingo, arts and crafts, and loved time spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Brew, Sturgis, and Sharon Wogoman, Syracuse, Indiana; grandchildren; Butch (Lorinda) Brew, Millersburg, Indiana, Mike (Heather) Brew and Jennifer (Gary) Gage, both of Sturgis, Dan (Angie) Wagne, Zionsville, Indiana, Lanny Wagner, Millersburg, Jeff (Heather) Wogoman and Jason (Tracy) Wogoman, both of Middlebury, Indiana; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katheryn Murfin and Patrica Loose, both of Coldwater; brother, Jim (Cherry) Sindell, Belleview, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Terri Gorbutt; son-in-law, Dennis Brew; and two brothers, Leroy and Merwin Sprowl.
The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Schipper Funeral Home LTD, Colon.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Helen L. Stewart will take place Thursday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David J. Farrell officiating.
Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Colon.
If desired, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
