Harry D. "Towhead" Doty, 91, Milford, passed away July 28, at Lakeland Rehab Center, Milford.
He was born April 18, 1927, to Harry A. and Nina Doty.
He married Kathryn E. Yoder March 5, 1949, at Milford Bethel Church of the Brethren. Harry was a lifelong resident of Milford. He served in the U.S. Army Artillery during World War II.
Harry worked as a contractor for Doty Construction. He was a building inspector for the town of Milford and worked on the Milford Fire Department for more than 30 years.
Harry was a member of Wawasee Community Bible Church, lifetime member of the Milford American Legion and was on the advisory board for the township trustee. Harry also drove a school bus for the Wawasee Community School Corp.
He is survived by a son, Kent (Christy) Doty, Milford; daughters, Peg (John) Leighty, Fishers, Janny Rice, Milford; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Donna Fisher, Annabelle Replogle and Maryann Dowty.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Wawasee Community Bible Church, 2035 E. 1300 North, Milford. Services will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church. Pastor Tom Speicher will officiate.
A private graveside service will take place at Milford Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wawasee Community Baptist Church.
