Gladys Marie (Troyer) Christner, 77, went to be with Jesus Tuesday, June 20, at Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange. She loved Jesus and her family more than anything.
She was born Aug. 6, 1939, in Goshen, to Ezra and Mary (Miller) Troyer.
She is survived by five children, Diane Roe and Charles (Dawn) Christner, both of Topeka, Donna (Todd) Bontrager, Shipshewana, Arthur Dean (Tammy) Christner, Elkhart, and Don (Tina) Christner, Terre Haute; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three siblings, Edna Gingerich and Marion (Dorothy) Troyer, both of Goshen, and Mervin (June) Troyer, Millersburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Christner; a son, Gary; a grandson, Mitchell Gary Dean; her parents; and brothers, Omer, Melvin and Elmer Troyer.
A lifetime member of Maple Grove Church, Gladys lived in Topeka most of her life. She loved spending time with her family, friends and church family. You rarely saw Gladys without a smile on her face and encouraging words for you. She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to books on tape and music. She loved to sing while she had the breath to do so.
Her greatest wish was for everyone to know and love Jesus as their Lord and Savior. She was anticipating seeing Jesus face-to-face.
Friends may call Thursday, June 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Friday, June 23, at Maple Grove Church, Topeka. Pastor Jason Gingerich will officiate.
Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
