George Kenneth Rasley Sr., 90, formerly of Goshen, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, June 14, at his home in Brownsboro, Alabama.
The retired director of personnel and labor relations for Reith-Riley Construction Company, Mr. Rasley was for many years active in the civic affairs of Goshen. He was a deacon, elder and trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of Goshen, served on the board of directors of Goshen Hospital and served on the board of Maplecrest Country Club. He was a founder of the ad hoc group that saved the Goshen millrace and made it a public park.
He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the National Honor Society of Scabbard and Blade military honors fraternity and Sigma Phi Epsilon, social fraternity. He later earned a master's degree from the University of St. Francis.
Mr. Rasley was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the 11th Airborne during World War II and the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956 with the rank of lieutenant.
Survivors include his wife, C. Dale Rasley; sons, George Kenneth Rasley Jr. and Jeffrey S. Rasley; grandchildren, Heather Rasley Merrick, Lt. James J. Rasley, and Andrew Rasley; stepson, Kenneth Gregory Bennett; stepgrandson, Lucas Bennett; and sister, Martha Hudson.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, Huntsville. A funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with the Rev. Chad Hallcox of the Boaz Church of God, Albertville, officiating.
