Faron James Wickey

Faron James Wickey, born Aug. 31, 1955, in Goshen, Indiana, died April 21, Easter Sunday morning, 2019.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Jay Wickey, born Dec. 28, 1961, died June 22,1982; and his father, Perry J. Wickey, born July 9, 1937, died Dec. 8, 2000.
He is survived by his sister, Linda Kay (Wickey) Jerome, Hillsboro, Oregon, and his mother, Edna Marie (Troyer) Wickey, Forest Grove, Oregon.
Faron was a graduate of Northridge High School where he excelled in math and science. He also earned his varsity letter in football and wrestling.
Faron attended Purdue University and made the dean's list in his freshman year. Home on Christmas break in December 1976, he was injured while inner-tube sledding with friends, resulting in a spinal cord injury and quadriplegia.
In 1978, he moved to Sarasota, Florida, with his parents. He graduated from the University of South Florida in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in computer science.
From there, he moved to the Plano, Texas, area and worked in the field of computer science for many years. Faron insisted on living independently his entire life. His intelligence and spirit touched many lives of those who he employed as caregivers.
In 2007, he moved to Hillsboro, Oregon, and lived in Aloha, Oregon, until his death.
Graveside services are Monday, April 29, at Palms Memorial Park, Sarasota, Florida.
