Fannie Mae Mabie


Fannie Mae Mabie, 84, died Monday, March 4, at Goshen Hospital.
She was born Aug. 12, 1934, in New Paris, to Daniel Hershberger and Susie (Chupp) Hershberger Weirich.
Survivors include two children, Rick (Becky) Mabie, Mishawaka, and Penny Mabie, Goshen; three grandchildren, Jack (Liz), Rachel and Reshell Dudelston; five great-grandchildren, Christian, Emily and Isaac Dudelston, and Robert and Remi Makin; three sisters, Dorothy (Phil) Hooley, Shipshewana, Barb (Steve) Crossgrove, West Unity, Ohio, and Betty Crowley, Sarasota, Florida; and five brothers, Al Hershberger, Soldotna, Alaska, Dan Hershberger, Hernando, Florida, Dale Hershberger, Sterling, Alaska, Floyd (MaryLee) Hershberger, Ocala, Florida, and Lee (Rachel) Hershberger, Sarasota, Florida.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Mary Hershberger, Margaret Anders and Glenn Hershberger; and sister-in-law, Nancy Hershberger.
Fannie worked for Krogers for 40 years in many different capacities and was an independent consultant for Mary Kay.
She loved her Lord and her church, First United Methodist Church, Goshen, where she was an active and faithful member and volunteer. She volunteered as a receptionist; with vacation Bible school; Wednesday night meals; the pre-school program and Sunday school. A prayer warrior, for many years she chaired the church prayer chain program. She provided baked goods whenever they were needed for a church event. She served passionately on the Bashor Children's Home Ladies Auxiliary.
Fannie enjoyed painting ceramics, card making, crocheting, reading and traveling extensively around the world. Fergus, her dog, was loved deeply.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 10, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
An 11 a.m. celebration of life service will take place Monday, March 11, at First United Methodist Church, Fifth Street campus, Goshen. Pastors Ed and Brenda Fritz will officiate.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church.
