Elizabeth "Betsy"'s Story
Elizabeth A. "Betsy" Troyer, 83, died Monday at Greencroft Goshen Health Care.
She was born May 26, 1934, in Goshen, to Clemens and Anna (Hershberger) Yoder. On Jan. 14, 1956, she married Samuel Troyer at Goshen City Church of the Brethren, Goshen. He survives along with a daughter, Sandi (Craig) Clark, Middlebury; two sons, Tony (Esther) Troyer, Bay City, Oregon, and Mark (Deb) Troyer, Findlay, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Martha Byler, Spartansburg, Pennsylvania, Edna (Phil) Hoffman, Deming, New Mexico, and Sue (Don) Stutzman, Goshen.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Samuel and Phillip Troyer; two brothers, Eli and William Yoder; and sister, Katie Miller.
A Goshen resident since 2003, Betsy was a member of College Mennonite Church where she was active in the Homebuilders Sunday school class. She was a loving homemaker, worked as a nursing aide for many years and was an avid doily maker and quilter.
Friends may call Friday, Oct. 6, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
A celebration of life service will begin at noon, Saturday, Oct. 7, at First Mennonite Church, 203 E. Lawrence, Middlebury. Pastors Ron Kennel and Pamela Yoder, College Mennonite Church will officiate.
A family burial will take place at Locust Grove Mennonite Church Cemetery, Burr Oak, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Mennonite Central Committee or RETA.
