Elizabeth "Beth"'s Story

Text size

Elizabeth "Beth" Ellen (Hesse) Hamilton, 63, Goshen, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Dec. 2, after a three-year battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 30, 1954, in Three Rivers, Michigan, to her parents, Bill and Mary (Von Bergen) Hesse.
In 1980, she married Paul Hamilton of Bedford, Iowa. She had three children and lived in Bedford, Iowa, Avoca, Nebraska, Elmo, Missouri and Goshen. In all these places, she was well known for her sense of humor, signature laugh, love for the Lord, church drama productions, painting/wallpapering skills, saying "you old silly," and telling her wide-mouthed frog joke. Ha! She loved many and had a way of letting people know that they were wanted and welcomed. For us, her family, we treasure the family traditions she set, the way she rolled her eyes when Dad teased her or called her "honey bunny," her three kisses on our cheeks while saying "I love you, Sweetie Heart," and the way she laughed with us. While we will miss her terribly, we praise the Lord she is pain-free and we have no doubt she is in heaven. She had a relationship with God from a young age and we can still picture her sitting in her favorite spot to read her Bible each day.
She is survived by her husband Paul of Goshen; son Luke of New York; daughters, Heidi (Ben) King of Illinois; and Heath (Travis) Bontrager of Goshen; seven grandchildren: Avery, Josiah, Lincoln, Abigail, Blythe, Madison and Miles; her mother, Mary Hesse of Elkhart; and sisters, Becky (Steve) Aldridge of Elkhart and Ruth (Joe) Bowerman of Goshen.
Preceding her in death was her dad, Rev. Bill Hesse, and her aunt, Norma Snyder.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. both today, Dec. 4, and Tuesday, Dec. 5, and a 10 a.m. funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 6, all at Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church, 61115 Ind. 15 Goshen, IN 46528. Pastor Ron Diener, Pastor Harold Knight and Pastor Matt Maloney will be officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be sent to Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home (311 S. Main St., Goshen IN 46526) to go toward Discovery Ministries (this is Beth's niece, Leah Fuller's ministry for the past several years).
