Earl D. Comstock, 95, Goshen, died Monday, March 27.
Earl was born in Astoria, Illinois, March 29, 1921, the second of six children of James E. and Clara (Stahl) Comstock.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, who served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theaters. He was awarded two Bronze Stars, as well as Victory and Conduct medals. He was a member of the American Legion.
Earl retired as a foreman for Richmond Wholesale and was a devoted member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Goshen, where he served as a greeter for more than 20 years. After retirement, he enjoyed winters in Sebring, Florida, and began another career providing handyman services in both Goshen and Florida, making many good friends by helping others.
Earl was outgoing and well liked. His hobbies included genealogy and word search puzzles and he enjoyed watching golf and religious programs on TV.
Earl was preceded in death by wives, Gloria and Dorothy; infant daughter, Karen; and siblings, Edward, Joseph and Elmer Comstock and Lucille Clark.
He is survived by his children, Steven Comstock, Sturgis, Michigan, Darlene (Harry) Petrat and Renetta (Roy) Ulch, both of Goshen, and Rick (Carolyn) Comstock, White Pigeon, Michigan; stepson, Larry (Gail) Snyder, Mishawaka; sister, Thelma (Carroll) Walton, Pierceton; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 110 S. Fifth St., Goshen. After services, military honors will be provided by the Goshen Veterans Honor Guard at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family's preferred memorials are to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship or to the American Cancer Society.
