Douglas R. Miller, 76, Middlebury, passed away of natural causes at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 8, 1941, in Elkhart, to Leroy and Vivian (Hout) Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Miller, Middlebury; son, Steve (Sherri) Miller, Middlebury; daughter, Stephanie (Greg) Miller, Ann Arbor, Michigan; daughter, Cindy (Brian) Hobson, Middlebury; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Doug was an avid sports fan especially for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He was a 1959 graduate of Middlebury High School and graduated from Ball State University. He had worked as a claims adjuster for Miles Laboratory, a bartender for Middlebury Legion Post 210 Middlebury and was the owner of the Winners Circle, Middlebury, for 17 years. He was a member of the George Washington Masonic Lodge 325 and the Scottish Rite. Doug was a beer lover, who enjoyed spending time in Aruba and in Middlebury. He liked being out in the sun and spending time with the family puppies.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, followed by a 4 p.m. memorial service, including a Masonic service, all at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Ron Russell and members of Washington Masonic Lodge 325.
