Donald H. McFarland, 90, died peacefully at VA Hospice, Prescott, Arizona, Jan. 20.
He was born May 8, 1927, to Percy and Beatrice (McCormick) McFarland in Clarks Green, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Clarks Summit High School, attended VMI and joined the Army during World War II. After discharge from the Army, he graduated from Keystone Junior College.
He married Loraine J. Haffner, June 4, 1949, in Arlington, Virginia.
Don worked in human resources at Monsanto, Starcraft, Conn and Flexsteel, retiring in 1992.
Don and Loraine moved from Syracuse, Indiana, to Prescott, where they enjoyed more than 20 years traveling the West.
Don is survived by his wife of 68 years, Loraine, Prescott; daughter Lauren (Tom) Murto, Goshen, Indiana; and five grandsons, Ian McFarland, Cameron McFarland, Andrew Murto, David Murto and Michael Murto. Also nieces, Alexis McFarland Kelly, Diane Kelley Evans, and nephews Doug Kelley and Dave Kelley.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward McFarland; sister, Elsie Kelley Valvano; and son, Lynn David McFarland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Northern Arizona VA Hospice Care, 500 N. U.S. Hwy. 89, Prescott, AZ 86313.
A private memorial is planned.
