Diane's Story

Text size

Diane passed away peacefully surrounded by her family June 12. The cause of death was amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
She was born Oct. 30, 1951, to Harmon and Mary Lou Williams in Goshen, Indiana. She attended Purdue University School of Nursing and began her career at Cincinnati General Hospital, where she met her husband, Dr. Robert Rolfs. They were married June 25, 1983 in Cincinnati, Ohio. They were blessed with two children, Colin and Meghan, a daughter-in-law, Michelle, and a beautiful grandchild, Emilia.
Diane is survived by her parents, her husband, her two children, her grandchild and three siblings, Ben Williams and Marla Schrader, both of Goshen, and Susan (John) Fairless, Perrysville, Ohio.
She was a loving mother and friend. Diane loved the outdoors. She noticed the small things like flowers and birds as much as the mountains and vistas.
Diane was a nurse for more than 30 years. She was a consummate nurse who always put her patients first and would do anything to make sure they received the care they needed. She felt privileged to be a part of so many lives.
Diane was blessed with many remarkable friends, neighbors, coworkers and caregivers. She and her family want to thank those many people who helped her in so many ways, especially during the last few years. Diane was weakened physically by ALS, but she never lost her spirit, her love of life or her ability to put things in perspective for those around her.
Services took place Thursday, June 15, in Salt Lake City.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, ALS Division, 849 W. Levoy Drive, No. 210, Salt Lake City, UT 84123.
