David L. Piehl, 71, died Saturday at Courtyard Healthcare.
He was born Oct. 18, 1946, in Warsaw, to Francis W. and Nellie L. (Tiede) Piehl.
On June 28, 1975, he married Mary Miller in Goshen. She survives along with four children, Kristina (Greg) Batten, Rochester, Gabriel (Katrina) Piehl, Hampton, Virginia, Sara (Brent) Hurley and Kathryn (Casey) Cobb, both of Goshen; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother, James (Sandy) Piehl, South Bend.
David worked at Allis Chalmers, LaPorte, and Clark Equipment Machinery, Battle Creek, Michigan, and Lexington, Kentucky, prior to retirement. He then worked as a sales representative for Menards. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, now known as Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Goshen.
He was also a member and former commander of VFW Post 985, was a Scout Master of Troop 12, New Paris, and a Goshen Band Booster.
Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a 10 a.m. funeral service will be conducted Friday. Pastor Terry Miller will officiate.
Burial will follow at West Goshen Cemetery, Goshen.
